International grade conversion
Convert grades between national systems and the US 4.0 GPA. Pick your country for the right formulas and a reference table.
What a top grade looks like in each system
The same percentage means very different things depending on where you studied — which is why converting with a US table produces misleading numbers.
| Country | Top grade | Percentage | US GPA |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canada | A / A+ | 85–100% | 4.0 (4.3 scale: 4.3) |
| United Kingdom | First-Class (1st) | 70%+ | ≈ 4.0 |
| Australia | High Distinction | 85%+ | ≈ 4.0 |
| India | O / A+ (9.0+ CGPA) | 85%+ (×9.5) | ≈ 4.0 |
| Germany | 1.0 (sehr gut) — scale is inverted | — | 4.0 |
| Philippines | 1.00 (scale is inverted) | 97–100% | 4.0 |
| Nigeria | First Class (4.50–5.00) | 70%+ | 3.7 – 4.0 |
| Pakistan | A (3.5+ CGPA) | 87.5%+ | ≈ 3.5 – 4.0 |
| Nepal | A+ (NEB) | 90–100% | 4.0 |
| Indonesia | Cum Laude (IPK 3.51+) | — | ≈ 3.5 – 4.0 |
| Vietnam | A (8.5–10.0) | 85–100% | 4.0 |
| Malaysia | First Class (CGPA 3.67+) | — | ≈ 3.7 – 4.0 |
| Bangladesh | A+ (GPA 5.00) | 80–100% | 4.0 |
| United States | A | 93–100% | 4.0 |
A UK 70% and a Canadian 85% are both top-of-scale results, while a US 70% is a C−. Pick your country above for the full band table and a converter that uses that country's own scale.
Grade conversion FAQ
Is there a universal grade-conversion formula?
No. Each country and university uses its own scale, so any conversion is an approximation. For official applications, use a NACES credential evaluator such as WES.
Which conversions do you support?
India (10-point CGPA), the UK (honours classifications), Germany (Modified Bavarian Formula), Australia and Canada, plus direct GPA ↔ percentage conversion.
